Ukraine's Industries to get Energy Efficiency Improvement Help

A joint conference took place today between the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and the German company GIZ with aim if improving the energy efficiency of Ukrainian industrial facilities.

At the conference, a presentation was made on the selection of Ukrainian enterprises that will receive technical support for the implementation of pilot projects on energy efficiency.

At present, Ukraine consumes 3-4 times more energy than the EU on average. In some industries, the share of energy consumption is 40% of total production costs. However, only a few companies are taking measures to reduce energy costs.

First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Maksym Nefyodov, commenting on the results of the selection of projects, said: "Investing in energy efficiency today is not only part of the social responsibility of business. This is also an economic necessity because the state can not  constantly provide businesses with incentives and subsidies for the purchase of energy resources."
