Spreading Energy Efficiency Awareness in Andhra Pradesh

THE Indian State Government of Andhra Pradesh is pushing for improved awareness of energy efficiency goals through behavioural change for wise use of energy resources.

The Hindu reports that the State Government Secretary (Energy) Ajay Jain has written letters to District Collectors to spread awareness about the energy efficiency aims and the goals set for public sector power utilities. He also wants to see better coordination with the State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM).

Jain revealed that orders have been issued to District Energy Conservation Committees (DECC) to implement and promote behavioural change leading to judicial use of the precious resources of energy.

The Hindu does highlight that the quest to finance the transition to a more sustainable energy system remains an issue. Noting also that there is a growing acknowledgement that adaptation to new resilience challenges, smart innovation and regional interconnection will be key parts of the solution.
