Latin America and Caribbean get Energy Efficiency Fund

THE Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced a $50 million Energy Efficiency Finance Facility, for companies in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The energy efficiency fund will be available to those companies that invest in energy saving improvements and self-supply renewable energy projects. The IDB will provide small-scale financing for projects that will reduce CO2 emissions and energy costs, including advanced lighting technology and advanced energy monitoring.

Kelle Bevine, head of the Strategy Management Unit in the Bank's Structured and Corporate Finance Department said, "Amid increasing demand for energy in the region, we can help reduce consumption by making investments in low carbon technologies more financially viable."
