Wisconsin company invests in energy-saving products

A small business in the US state of Wisconsin has invested in several energy-saving measures that are projected to save it thousands of dollars in electricity bills, according to Biztimes.com.

Columbia Grinding hopes to save $33,000 (£20,000) per year as a result of the investments, which include an air filtration system that automatically manages the exhaust system in the firm's production area.

The Oak Creek-based industrial grinding shop has also invested in a variable speed drive, which has reduced operating costs on its coolant pumping system as well as improved its reliability.

"With the new controls and filtration equipment, we're keeping warm air inside the building in the winter to reduce our gas consumption," Columbia Grinding president Richard Lussier told the website.

"In the summer, the controls automatically make sure that hot plant air is going outside to lower our cooling costs."

It is estimated that the two energy conservation investments will save more than 230,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity and 14,000 therms.

Enigin's iMEC speed motor controllers can be specified to intelligently adjust the speed of motors to match their variable loading, so your motors only consume the power they need.

A mere 20 per cent reduction in speed can lead to energy savings of up to 50 per cent.ADNFCR-2541-ID-19317078-ADNFCR
