UK on the right track with energy-conservation, report states

A new report has concluded that the UK is on course to meet the challenges of securing energy supplies domestically and internationally thanks to measures outlined in the Low Carbon Transition Plan.
Entitled 'Energy Security: a national challenge in a changing world' the report has been written by the prime minister's special representative on international energy Malcolm Wicks MP.
According to the study, many of the actions being adopted, which will lead to green jobs and energy-saving business opportunities, also need to be sustained to deal with energy security.
Commenting on the report, Mr Brown said that the UK is "already taking a number of responsible far-sighted steps aimed at creating a secure, low carbon, affordable energy footing in the long-term".
"The ability to maximise domestic energy reserves and establish home grown energy sources is vital alongside the UK's ability to pull on every lever internationally in support of energy security," he added.
According to the Low Carbon Transition Plan, more than 1.2 million people will be in green jobs by 2020, which will be created by green business opportunities.
