The More Power You Save, the More Money You will Save

TAIPOWER, a Taiwan power company, reported at the weekend that a power-saving drive they launched for July proved very successful, in terms of cutting energy consumption and reducing emissions of CO2.
The energy saving initiative was launched in response to a Taiwanese government call for energy saving and carbon reduction. The results were impressive with a total of 8.1 billion kilowatts-hours (kwhs) saved during the month nationwide.
This equated to a drop of 5.18 million metric tons of greenhouse gases, according to Taipower, a state-run company.
The company were also delighted to report that the 8.1 billion kwhs of electricity saved was more than than the 7.5 billion kwhs consumed by the residents of Taipei City for the whole of 2009.
Taipower out the success of its scheme down to the discount incentives it offered to junior high schools, elementary schools. Giving discounts of 5 percent to 20 percent on their bills, once they showed reduced power consumption or at least no increase.
They used the slogan: "The more power you save, the more money you will save with Taipower."
The scheme proves that realisation of financial savings motivates people to save energy.
