Scottish energy efficiency initiative completed ahead of schedule

Energy efficiency work on a windfarm in Scotland has been completed ahead of schedule, it has been reported.

The scheme involved the installation of a total of 35 new wind turbines at the Dun Law Windfarm site, which has tripled the capacity of the facility near Oxton.

Permission for the work was granted in 2007 and now that it has been completed has increased the site's capacity to 47MW, which will be sufficient to provide clean, green energy to more than 29,000 properties.

The original Dun Law Windfarm site was completed in 2000 and comprised 26 turbines.

Keith Anderson, managing director of ScottishPower Renewables, told online resource New Energy Focus that the project will make a "valuable contribution" to energy management targets.

Ted Picken, construction director with RES, which undertook the work, added: "We are delighted with the safe delivery of Dun Law Extension more than three months ahead of schedule."
