Report Reveals SMEs Can Save a Fortune through Energy Efficiencies
THE Committee on Climate Change in the UK has underlined the fact that substantial savings are just waiting for small and medium-sized businesses to claim through energy efficiency
Although focused on UK SMEs the benefits apply worldwide for any business or organisation.
The Committee reported that in the UK, and many other countries, greenhouse gas emissions are falling the UK like most countries are struggling to meet reduction targets, in the UK a 34 per cent cut in emissions by 2020 relative to 1990 levels.
Environment director at Business in the Community, Jim Haywood, expounded how businesses could save as much as £1 million weekly by becoming energy efficient.
Haywood added:
"The average office wastes about £6,000 per year just by leaving equipment on over the weekends and at bank holidays and so on.
"Reducing energy consumption by just 20 per cent can add the same sort of amount to profits as an increase in sales of something like five per cent. There is a real incentive there to make a difference."
Businesses of all sizes will benefit financially by using the services of energy saving companies to focus their energy saving and using the right technology to automate energy efficiency measures..
