One Minute & Energy Efficiency Hits The Spot

One Minute & Energy Efficiency Hits The Spot

On prime-time TV in New Zealand they have been running very useful one-minute episodes called The Energy Spot – these have been helping Kiwis find practical ways to save energy and money in the home, but they are now shifting the emphasis to the work place.

The programme will feature companies who, through rigorous efforts, have saved energy and money, primarily through low or no-cost measures. Very importantly these businesses have engaged their staff to make these changes and it quickly becomes apparent during the episodes that it makes good commercial sense with the savings going straight to the bottom line.

A paper and pulp mill featured in one episode listened to ideas from their operations staff and drastically cut energy use; a hotel installed low-cost measures to save energy without compromising guest comfort.

The programme set out to demonstrate that all businesses can benefit from taking action. The programme reveals through the examples shown that energy efficiency can radically improve business productivity.

Analysis also showed that most businesses could cut their energy spend by 10 to 20 percent by simple efficiency measures, freeing up valuable capital that can be reinvested to help a business grow.
