Manila Police to Arrest Energy Use

THE Eastern Police District (EPD) of Manila is being forced to take energy efficiency measures to be able to pay its utility bills, by arresting the amount of energy wasted.
Police chiefs are strictly implementing energy saving at district and station level after continuing increases in energy consumption across their precincts.
EPD district director, Police Chief Supt. Fracisco Soria Manalo Jr, released a statement revealing that the funds available from the Philippine National Police general headquarters is not enough to pay the Police districts utility bills.
Manalo added that basic measures need to be taken; switching off lights and computers setting higher or lower temperatures for air conditioners, plus making sure everything is switched off outside of normal office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
He did highlight that in certain circumstances these items may need to be used outside of normal hours and that would be authorised.
