Landscaping employees given energy-saving tips

UK hard landscaping firm Marshalls is giving its employees some guidance on how to cut energy use in the workplace.

As part of a week-long energy-saving initiative, staff members were recently encouraged to think about their energy consumption and carbon footprint while at work, the Halifax Courier reports.

Chris Harrop, marketing director at Marshalls, said that employees used energy monitors to gain a better understanding of the challenges facing businesses in terms of energy efficiency.

He told the newspaper that carbon reduction is a "key business issue" for the company, which operates 12 service centres and 14 offices throughout the UK.

"It's only by seeing how much energy we use everyday that we're going to be able to make a difference to the way we behave at work and at home," Mr Harrop said.

"Marshalls' Energy Saving Week is all about working together to find ways we can save energy, reduce our carbon footprint and ultimately save money."

A manufacturer of natural stone and concrete landscaping products for private and commercial customers, Marshalls has a workforce of approximately 3,000 people.
