Invest more in energy saving products, wind association urges

More investment in energy saving products and solutions such as wind turbines needs to be made, according to the British Wind Energy Association, which has said there is a desire for them in the market.
Speaking after Newcastle-based consultancy TNEI launched a new software system aimed at helping with the design and construction of wind farms, a spokesperson from the association said private companies need more support from authorities.
"All investment in wind farms so far has been from private capital, there has been no government investment involving wind farms, it is not subsidised in any way," said the spokesperson.
"So what we need to understand is there is an appetite there amongst industry and private investors to deploy more wind energy."
The TNEI software is designed to enable the 3D modelling of ground data including the physical position of the turbine and the base stations and also provides an analysis of the flow of radio and micro waves to and from the station.
Climate change and ensuring security of energy supply are the two main policy challenges facing the government, according to the Renewable Energy Strategy.
