Hong kong Study Will Look To Energy Efficiency For Emission Reductions

Hong Kong’s Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau revealed that the HK Government is carrying out a climate change consultancy study.
The study will assess the likely impact of climate change on Hong Kong, outlining options to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particularly through energy efficiency, and adapt to climate change.
Yau told HK’s lawmakers that action is already being taken to enhance Hong Kong's overall energy efficiency.
Measures being implemented include providing $450 million under the Environment & Conservation Fund to roll out the Buildings Energy Efficiency Funding Schemes next month.
"To date, 300 applications have been approved, and upon completion of the energy-efficiency improvement projects there shall be an annual reduction of 43 million kWh in electricity usage - a reduction of over 30,000 tonnes of carbon-dioxide emissions. The projects and auditing work also present green business opportunities," said Yau.
