Four US states receive funding for energy-saving programmes

Green business opportunities in the US states of Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut and Hawaii have been given a boost thanks to a multi-million dollar investment from the Department of Energy (DoE).

More than $66 million (£40 million) in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will be advanced to the states for energy conservation initiatives.

Some 26,300 homes will benefit from the financing, which apart from helping lower energy costs, will reduce pollution and create green jobs supported by energy-saving businesses.

Initially the states will receive 50 per cent of the money, after which the remainder will be provided once certain Recovery Act goals have been met, the DoE announced.

"These awards demonstrate the Obama administration's strong commitment to moving quickly as part of the country’s economic recovery," commented Energy secretary Steven Chu.

Several regions across the US have been benefiting from DoE funding for energy conservation and renewable power programmes that are leading to the emergence of energy-saving business opportunities.ADNFCR-2541-ID-19312767-ADNFCR
