Energy-saving measures help Pakistani textile lower production costs

Pakistani textile companies have cut their electricity consumption and lowered production costs as a result of energy-saving measures.
Some 42 spinning mills are saving up to ten per cent of their electricity thanks to the initiatives, which have resulted in production costs falling by three per cent, according to The News.
The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), the National Productivity Organisation, the Asian Productivity Organisation and German organisation GTZ are collaborating to lower the textile units' energy usage.
According the news provider, GTZ is providing training on sustained energy conservation to 25 mill managers.
Energy audits are also being carried out with the help of testing equipment.
"Though one solution does not fit all, unaudited mills can select a report that is nearest to their operational procedure and take remedial measures to conserve whatever electricity they can before an official audit is conducted," an APTMA spokesman told the publication.
Companies can invest in real-time energy-monitoring products such as Enigin's Eniscope to assess their electricity usage.
