Energy management initiatives will "completely" change the UK economy

Energy management initiatives will

Energy management initiatives that are designed to reduce carbon emissions and enhance green credentials will have a fundamental impact on the entire economy of the UK in the future, according to one sector expert.

Andrew Raingold, deputy director of the Aldersgate Group, made his comments after the publication of a report by the Institute for Public Policy Research, which suggested that businesses need a rudimentary grasp of their contribution to climate change.

The Future's Green: Jobs and the UK Low Carbon Transition also stated that managers will require training to ensure they can be certain that offices do not waste energy.

Mr Raingold stated that a greener UK economy is an inevitability as there are many "extremely ambitious" targets in place, such as an 80 per cent cut in carbon emissions by 2050.

"The way the economy is powered and run is going to change completely. When politicians talk about an industrial revolution it is on that scale," he added.
