Energy Efficient Buildings for India

Energy Efficient Buildings for India

INDIA is seeing a 10% annual increase in commercial buildings with the increase in the energy demand projected to be 5.4 billion kWh annually. The need for businesses in India to design and construct ‘high performance buildings’, so that the use of electricity can be controlled is imperative.

Due to these increases the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, for the Government of India and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) will host a training programme and industry conference on ‘High performance commercial buildings in India’.

The workshop is a result of the partnership of the BEE and TERI under the Asia Pacific Partnership of Clean Development and Climate.

The workshop is being held this week, with the aim of developing more high performing energy efficient commercial buildings across the country.

Research has established energy conservation measures and has defined what is needed to achieve high performance buildings in the five different climatic zones of India, these findings will be shared with the participants of the workshop.
