Copenhagen must be "the start" of an energy management process

The United Nations Climate Change Conference, which is set to take place in Copenhagen next month, must represent "the start" of a new energy management process, it has been asserted.
Environment Agency chairman Lord Smith made his comments as the body held its annual conference, stating that Britain needs to take steps to achieve a major reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases.
Of the Climate Change Conference, which is due to take place in the Danish capital between December 7th and 18th, he said it must be viewed as "the crucial start to a process, not the end".
In addition, Lord Smith stated that it must result in political accord on cap and trade deals across the globe.
Concluding, he called for the establishment of a Climate Change Fund that will see fund matching from government and businesses in order to prioritise and coordinate research on how to reduce carbon emissions and tackle climate change.
