Basic energy efficiency strategies 'not costly'

Rolling out basic energy efficiency strategies is not prohibitively expensive, according to one sector commentator.
Gordon Miller, founder of online resource whatgreenhome.com, made his comments after Lord Adair Turner said that once people implement basic energy management schemes - such as installing efficient boilers - more "intrusive" methods are required.
Lord Turner suggested that a "whole house" approach, which could cost up to £15,000, may be needed.
Mr Miller stated that basic energy efficiency strategies will not be overly expensive - with energy efficient boilers retailing at around £2,000 to £3,000 - and that it is only when people start to invest in micro generation technologies that costs will rise.
"That is when you are going to start racking up £10,000 to £15,000 worth of costs. You are not going to do it by just the basic stuff," he concluded, noting that many consumers have yet to implement basic energy management strategies.
