American Recovery and Reinvestment Act aids South Carolina

Funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is aiding energy management projects in South Carolina's Savannah River site, it has been announced.
In a statement, the US department of energy said that deputy secretary of energy Daniel Poneman recently talked about the issues at a community breakfast.
He explained that while the funding is helping environmental projects in the area, it is also creating and maintaining thousands of local jobs.
Mr Poneman also noted that there are opportunities in the region to help work towards a clean energy economy that also benefit the region's fiscal growth and development.
"This is just the start of our work. The Savannah River site and its surrounding communities have an important role to play as we put our country on the path to a clean-energy future," he concluded.
Earlier this month, the department of energy noted that the Obama administration has allocated millions of dollars in funding from the act to environmental and energy saving programs in Alaska, West Virginia, Utah and Kansas.
