Alabama-based university gets funding for energy efficiency projects

Alabama-based university gets funding for energy efficiency projects

The University of North Alabama (UNA) is to invest in more energy-efficient products and projects after receiving a grant for the second phase of its Green Campus Initiative.

A $951,000 grant (£817,000) from the US Department of Energy was awarded to the university on Tuesday (August 11th) for use in making its facilities as energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly as possible.

The university is investing in energy-efficient lighting, solar panels and upgraded heating and cooling systems, some of which are decades old.

"As we work to make UNA a greener, more energy-efficient campus, this funding is benefiting the environment as well as students, faculty, staff and the taxpayers of Alabama," commented UNA president Dr William Cale.

The university's Green Campus Initiative is aimed not only at promoting greater efficiencies of energy usage, but also reducing greenhouse gas emissions and recycling appropriate items.

Organisations such as the UNA can invest in real-time energy monitoring products, such as Enigin's Eniscope, which greatly aids energy efficiency in commercial and industrial sites.ADNFCR-2541-ID-19308365-ADNFCR
