Energy Saving Association
Our Charter

The ESA Charter

This Charter has been prepared by the Energy Saving Association, whose aims are to promote and support the reduction of energy consumption, particularly by commerce and industry, on a global basis. The ESA believes that energy efficiency is the single, most important future source of energy. The ESA recognises that energy use contributes significantly to the threat of climate change and that we must all play our part by taking sensible and considered action to reduce energy consumption. Membership is open to organisations, companies and individuals who participate in energy saving initiatives, and who share the common aims as set out in this Charter.

I / we participate in energy saving initiatives because I/we understand the importance of helping commerce and industry to reduce energy consumption as the world’s demand for power generation increases, with consequential effects on climate change, energy availability and rising costs. As responsible professionals with the knowledge and expertise to make a difference, we publish our aims and encourage others to:-

  • Persuade both industry leaders and their employees to recognise that their approach to energy saving in the workplace is critical to achieving significant reductions in energy consumption and meeting global targets.
  • Gain commitment to taking the appropriate measures that will reduce consumption and increase efficiency in the working environment.
  • Educate and inform all consumers of energy. Show them through the introduction of effective monitoring and analysis how simple actions will make a difference both at work and at home.
  • Promote the benefits of appropriate, leading edge, technological solutions that will provide proven energy savings and cost efficiencies.
  • Ensure that our own organisations exercise best practice and that our colleagues conduct themselves professionally as serious advocates of energy efficiency.
  • Share information, expertise, knowledge and experience between all members of the ESA that will further improve awareness and increase the level of energy saving activity within industry.
